We have a generation 1 airport extreme, do we need to update it to have faster internet??
Our airport extreme is 5 years old. We have cable modem through Time Warner in Brooklyn, NY. Our internet gets slower and slower. Uploading 100 MB files to an FTP take hours. We have tried to boost the speed using the airport utility, but to no success. Do we need to get a newer router? Or is it more likely a provider problem?

I am only getting good signal under 50 feet. I am reading here that it extends to 800 feet. What can I do to improve my signal in my home?
I have my comcast modem and a vpn router plugged in. I replaced my old router with Airport Extreme. It's wonderful; set itself up practically. However I have apple tv about 65 feet away and the signal is horrible. Also my iphone and ipad signals are either 1 or 2 bars, instead of the three 3. What can I do to improve the signal further into my home?

I have a 3+ year old MacBook. I've been using it w/ an older Airport Extreme with 'g' protocol. I know I have to install sofware to enable 'n.' What?
I'm going to buy the new Airport Extreme, because I now have two Macs that can use 'n' protocol. But I know my older Intel-based MacBook doesn't have the software to use 'n.' Where do I get it?

How do I find out if my PC has the (802.11a/b/g/n) protocol? it uses XP, is 4 years old is uses a linksys g-router, but I just got a Mac.
I can't remember the password to add the Mac to the Linksys and am not sure it's worth it anyhow... thinking of upgrading to Airport Extreme, but only if it will work with our old PC too.
