I have an AirPort Extreme that keeps locking up and requires a hard reboot 5 to 10 times per day.
I called apple and they thought maybe it was interference causing the problem but if that was the case why would it be totally unresponsive its like it isn't even there. The wireless network is just gone! The light stays green and everything works normally once i pull the plug and wait for it to start back up.
They said I could send it in and wait a couple weeks to have them take a look at it but that is totally impractical i work from home a lot and cant have even one day of down time.
Are there any options for me to run some diagnostics myself?
I do notice that the problem happens more frequently when a particular computer is on the network it is a windows 7 machine using a rosewill usp wireless device.- Asked by Joel M from Poplar Bluff

How do I access a hard drive drive connected to an Airport Extreme base station using Airport Utility on Windows? Am I missing a step?
1. Running 2 PC's with Windows XP (SP3). Used USB hub to connect printer and hard drive (Seagate FreeAgent 500Gb ) to Airport Extreme base station. Used Airport Utility and bonjour (from disk provided with base station) to set-up shared network drive and network printer.
2. Used Control Panel (and System Preferences for additional MacBook running Leopard, 10.5.7) to add printer to each computer. The network "sees" the printer and prints can be sent from all 3 computers.
3. Tried many times to set-up hard drive without success. The drive does not show up on the PC's or the MacBook.
4. \\(ethernet address) on PC shows the printer on the 2 PC's but not the hard drive.
5. Is there another step to connect to hard drive?- Asked by Richard N from Brighton

How to use AirPort Extreme with 2wire 2701
I have AT&T DSL with the 2wire 2701. Recently I began experiencing an intermittent signal on my MacBook that lasts several seconds and then reboots--this happens multiple times per hour. AT&T has sent out 4 technicians without solving this issue. After some online searching, I see that this is a common issue with Macs. They are bring a new 2 wire tonight, but I fear the same issue is going to occur with this. Would it be best for me to spend the money and buy an AirPort extreme and disable the wireless feature on the 2wire? If so, how would I go about doing that? I work from home, and have been extremely frustrated with this issue for the past two weeks. Of note, I have had my MacBook and the 2wire for at least two years without any problems until recently, so I am also thinking this issue may be related to an update I installed recently?

Airport Extreme 802.11n requires MacOSX10.5.7 or later. We have Mac 10.4.11. Will it work for us? Brenda
Our Mac 10.4.11 has an airport card that has never been activated. Our latest airport update is 2008001. I notice that a number of other questions ask the same - but there are no answers. (we have a computer not a notebook)

Can I have an Airport Express and Airport Extreme running at the same time?
I currently have an Airport Express with an iMac, MacBook and Apple TV running off it (this also allows Air Tunes). Next to my iMac are six external hard drives which ideally I would like away from my iMac - preferably in a cupboard somewhere else in the house. I wondered whether I could simply move the external hard drives away and connect them using a USB hub to an Airport Extreme and therefore connect to them wirelessly from both computers without it affecting the set up I already have with the Airport Express.

How many external hard drives can be connected to the AirPort Extreme?
1. How many external hard drives can be connected to the AirPort Extreme? (ie, via a USB hub)
2. Can an external hard drive that had beeen connect directly to my Mac be then connected to the AirPort Extreme without loss of data, or having to be reformatted? (I use Mac OS Extended format with journaling, and I do not use Time Machine.)

Is there any difference between a Time Capsule and an Airport Extreme other than the integrated hard drive?
My absolute top priority is the wireless network. I've got another, large network drive for storage. But for some reason, my university bookstore is selling a Time Capsule with 500 GB of storage at a cheaper price than the Airport Extreme. Is there any reason to still choose the Airport Extreme? If there's no difference, I'll get the TC, save $$, and get a bonus hard drive!

Will Buffalo WBR-G54 access point work with AirPort Extreme?
I currently have a home network with 3 Buffalo WBR-G54 airstations. Two of the airstations are Access Points, and the devices hooked to them do not require high speed access. (One is a piano, and the others are two DVD players which occassionally need remote updating). I also have an Apple TV which runs wireless, multiple iPhones, a Mac Book pro, and several Macs running Snow Leopard. Also, one wired and one wireless PC running XP.
I would like to upgrade to the AirPort Extreme to get better wireless for the Mac Book Pro and Apple TV, and the Gigabyte wired speed. Does anyone know if the two Buffalo access points will continue to work with the Airport Extreme or will they need to be replaced? If they don't work as is, would it be possible to hook the current Buffalo router to one of the wired Ethernet ports (disabling DHCP) and let it talk to the access points?
I will also need the Netgear GS605 5 port gigaswitch, as I need 4 wired ports (5 if I have to keep the Buffalo in the system).
I have been searching for a good solution to our networking issues for several days now, and this seems to be the best solution. Any advice or comments will be appreciated.- Asked by Nancy W from Raleigh

Limit User Access feature in Airport Extreme
If you use the Access Control feature and enter the MAC address of the computers that you want to limit access, how does it disable users at the designated time? Will it only work when the user logs off, sleeps or reboots? What will cause the rules to go into effect?

Are the Airport Extreme's specific to a geographic region?
I recently purchased an Airport Extreme to use initially in my hotel room whilst in Singapore and then to relocate to my home in the UK. When I arrived in the UK I see that for the 5Ghz setup it only shows Asia/Pacific countries. Does this mean that the device is specifically locked to a geographic region or can I upload a European firmware?

Time Capsule - Extreme Extender?
Got a 1TB time machine connected to my old modem. Bought my first Mac 10 months ago and love it. Problem is we've just had an extension and my iphone won't pick up the wireless signal in the new part of the house. I've asked for an airport extreme for Xmas in the hope it will extend the network for my phone etc. Have I done the right thing?
