Can I connect my iMac to the AirPort Extreme for a wired connection and still use it to establish a wireless connection with a laptop PC?
I currently use a Linksys router. My laptop, which uses Vista 64-bit, works great. But my iMac 24" constantly loses connection if I connect it to one of the ethernet ports on the router. The same thing happens if I use try going wireless. The Genius Bar couldn't give me a reason why, nor could several techie friends of mine.
The only thing any of us could think of is that there is something in the router that doesn't mesh well with the iMac. As a result, I've connected the iMac directly to the external modem and put the router back in its box.
So would the AEBS permit a wired connection with the iMac while still allowing me to set up a secured wireless connection with my laptop?
Question number 2 is: will the AEBS work with Windows 7, if I were to upgrade my laptop PC from its current Vista 64-bit?- Asked by Michael F from Sammamish

How to you set up an airport extreme with an existing dsl router / modem combo?
I have a 2wire AT&T router / modem combo. How do I setup an airport extreme with the existing dsl router without buying a stand alone modem? Or would it be better to have a stand alone modem? Are there some settings in the 2wire router I need to change? Please no acronyms...I push enough buttons to eventually get things to work, but I am not a computer genius, hence my desire to switch to macs. Thanks

Can I connect to Verizon Wireless instead of a wired modem?
I have a Verizon MiFi device as the onloy available hi speed internet where I reside. Is it possible to expand my wifi with this AirPort Extreme Base Station using the limited capabilities (distance and number of users) by picking up the wifi signal from the MiFi device and routing it as stronger WiFi throughout my home? I am fairly certain I will not get any speed gain, since that is limited by the MifI device, but would like increased strong signal distance for the connections.

Does it have to be connected to a cable modem?
Can this be used for file/print sharing only, without plugging it into my cable modem? My cable connection is in a different room than my home office ..so i really only need it to wirelessly share my hard drives and printer. So wondering if i can continue to use my Linksys as the wireless router, and the AirPort basically as an extension to my existing network.

I currently have a Comcast wireless internet service, thus there is no modem - is it possible to set up the Extreme to receive wireless signal?
The HOA installed a Comcast wireless internet network in our condo complex, and thus there are no modems used, as was the case with the previous DSL network now disconnected.
My questions are:
1. Can the Airport Extreme receive the Comcast wireless internet signal?
2. Want to continue using wireless printer connected to the USB port on the Extreme.
3. How to set it up? Do I need some info from Comcast for the set up?
Please advise.- Asked by Paul H from San Mateo

Can Airport Extreme extend my existing wireless connection (from Cable modem) to another WinXP SP3 PC via Ethernet?
I have a Rogers Cable Modem, that is connected via Ethernet to my DLINK DIR-615 wireless network. I use it to connect my main WinXP PC via Ethernet and wireless to my iPhone, wife's iPod Touch, and 2 Sony PSP3000s (not all simultaneously). I'd like to purchase the Airport Express or Airport Extreme Base Station to extend the existing wireless connection to another room in my apartment to use for a) another WinXP SP3 PC, and b) my lovely Apple TiBook G4.
Can either Airport Express/Extreme do this with or without the 802.11N hardware models??!
Thanks.- Asked by Donovan S from Toronto

I'd like to extend the wired connection to other devices (Blue Ray player and DVR), but I've exceeded the number of ethernet ports in the back of the AirPort Extreme.

Can I use an Airport Extreme along with an Airport Express to effectively extend ethernet to a HDTV
I have a dual band airport extreme connected to Roadrunner serving my Macbook Pro, iPod touch, USB printer and a USB hard drive. I also have an airport extreme to stream iTunes audio to my stereo system. I am buying a Samsung 55B8000 HDTV that has a USB port to be used with a Samsung proprietary wireless adapter for wireless internet connection which I don't have. The TV also has an ethernet port that can be used for internet downloadable firmware updates, streaming internet video and some other goodies, That port can be easily set up as a DHCP connection to the internet. To avoid buying the proprietary Samsung adapter, can I use the ethernet port on the airport express to effectively extend the ethernet connection from the airport extreme to the airport express or is the airport express ethernet port only for a WAN connection and not a LAN connection? If the airport express won't do it, would a second airport extreme do it? i.e. use the LAN ports on both airports.

Any problems using Zoom 5715 modem with my Airport Extreme?
I have been trying to use a router/modem Sitecom D227 with my Airport Extreme but it is not easy to set up. I can buy a modem Zoom 5715 for £22 or so but I would be glad to know that there have been no conflicts in using this one.
