Can an Airport Extreme handle the speed of a fiber optic line of of 7Mbps downstream/up to 896 kbps upstream without any loss of speed?
I have a fiber optic line coming in for internet access. I want to use an Airport Extreme for my wireless access. Do any versions of the Airport Extreme handle the speed? I read in a posting that it can't handle the speed of the line. I hate to pay or speed and then not be able to use it..and yet I love my Airport Extreme.

Airport extreme WDS capabilities
I want to replace my router with an Apple Airport Extreme. My question is that Airport Extreme can do the same thing that my current router does. My Router is located in LIVING ROOM. It communicates wirelessly with cable modem via WDS (Wireless Distribution Service). It means collects wireless signals wirelessly from cable modem and distributes these signals both wirelessly and wired. Sometimes it works great but sometimes makes me crazy. Distance between cable modem and router is 40 meters but some rooms and walls decrease the signal quality.
1) Is Apple Airport Extreme has same capabilities with my old router? in terms of WDS between third party modem and AE base station.
2) It might help to increase the signal quality or not?- Asked by Onur K

data transfer rates for Airport Extreme base station?
looking for a wireless router and specs I found say that Airport Extreme base station has a data transfer rate of between 11 and 54 Mbps on 802.11a/b/g while the Linksys E4200 has data transfer rates of up to 300-450 Mbps. This seems to be quite a large difference and was wondering what the actual data transfer rates via WiFi are for the Airport Extreme base station and how do they compare with actual data transfer rates of other brands of similar routers. Thanks.

Is the USB 2.0 port on the Extreme a true High Speed USB port with approx. 480Mbps throughput, or is it just USB 2.0 compatible?
I'm thinking of connecting High Speed certified USB 2.0 drives to the Extreme as network drives, but it doesn't say anywhere how fast the AP Extreme's USB port is. Just saying that it is USB 2.0 isn't enough. That could mean that it is a 12Mbps port and NOT a High Speed 480 Mbps port. Also wondering if anyone is using a High Speed hub that they can recommend.
Thanks.- Asked by Neil B from New York

airport extreme as a receiver from another airport extreme?
Instead of using multiple airport express devices as receivers (from airport extreme used as a router), can I use a second airport extreme as a the network receiver (or bridge) and connect multiple devices using ethernet connection? What I am intending to do is connect a blu ray player, AV receiver and a hard drive music server (by ethernet cable) to the second airport extreme and have them access the internet by communicating (wirelessly) with my first airport extreme (which is the router).
