My Imac is Mac OSX Version 10.5.8 Would I benefit by upgrading to Snow Leopard, or have I already got it.
My system does not give the software a "Leopard" name ? just OSX 10.5.8 ?
Also, as an old Windows user, I would like to install Microsoft Word. How cheaply can I achieve this - I presume it's not included with the Snow Leopard upgrade that I am considering ?
Please advise.- Asked by Christopher W

spotlight finder: I rely heavily on the word indexing function - upgrade caused it to fail, or disappear
The result was, I had to re-install to my basic Tiger program, version 10.5.7, where the indexing works perfectly. Has it been fixed, so that snow leopard will work the indexing even more efficiently? And will Lion continue this?

Upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard require a clean install?
Macbook 13inch with Intel processor about 6mo old with ver 10.5.8 Tiger installed. Will a clean install be required, or does the standard install leave applications and data and just remove the old version and replace with the new 10.6 Snow Leopard version of the OSX?

If I upgrade, do I have to upgrade ALL programs such as iLife '09, etc? I'm already using '09, I believe. Still do I need to upgrade?
I'm looking into upgrading to Snow Leopard. With that being said, I need to know beforehand whether I'll need to upgrade all my other programs such as iWork, etc. I'm pretty positive I'm already using the '09 programs. If that be so, are there still other upgrades for compatibility with Snow Leopard or will it be fine? Thanks in advance for the help!

Can I really upgrade to Leopard or Snow Leopard for $29 if I don't want iLife? As of today any major issues with Snow Leopard?
I run Neo Office and the kids want to run Spore, FAMPS, and some other stuff only compatible with Windows or OSX 10.5. Will I have compatibility issues with these softwares? Is the upgrade from Tiger to Leopard without iLife really only $29?

I have a Macbook Pro with OSX 10.4.11 2 GHZ intel core duo 512 MB 667MHZ Ram and bought Snow Leopard to upgrade. But it won't allow me to upgrade.
Although when I place the disc in, it appears on my screen, however when i click on it, it does nothing (doesn't open install program). I've had success in installing it on my other two iMacs. This is the family pack, so I know there more installations available.
