Can I buy the 10.6 Family pack and use it to upgrade one macbook running 10.5 and one macbook pro running 10.4?
I have a old fairly broken down Macbook Pro that was a seriously early revision, like 13 weeks out of the factory. It is running the latest version of Tiger (10.4.11? I can't remember). I also have a newer Macbook running 10.5.8.
My plan is to use the old MBP with a external harddrive hooked up to a tv to play my movies. I'm fairly stubborn and want to do this using dvdpedia and frontrow but the plugin will not work under 10.4, only 10.5 or 10.6.
So I was wondering if I could purchase the Snow Leopard family pack and upgrade BOTH my computers? I know in the description it says to upgrade from Tiger I need the box set edition but I do not need any of the iApps, in fact I would delete them straight away so no way am I paying $NZ349 for it. This is probably more than the computer is worth seeing as the airport card, battery and dvd drive do not work.
Sorry if this is overly complicated but I am a student and I don't want to commit my money if there is no hope of achieving what I want! If anyone has some answers or clarification for me that would be amazing :)- Asked by Frances R from Dunedin

OS X Snow Leopard Upgrade for multiple computers.
I have an iMac and a Macbook that need upgrading to Snow Leopard. Do I need to purchase 2 Snow Leopard DVD packages? Is there a family pack available? There is no description of the license requirements for Snow Leopard on the Apple Store page. (In fact, it's difficult to find Snow Leopard in the store at all!)

I'm currently running Leopard. Will purchasing the £25 upgrade version of Snowleopard give me a fully working version of Snowleopard?
Just concerned that I'll buy this and I'll then need to buy a full version or something!

Owned a Mac for years: MAC OS X 10.4.11 / 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / Safari 4.1.3. No software updates available. What's best way to upgrade?
If it isn't already apparent, I'm also not very "computer literate". I've been told I need to bring the Mac into a store, but that's really not feasible. I know there have been several software tiers since my "ancient" form of Safari (Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard and now Lion). Had Firefox at one time, but can't seem to get it again (without updating the computer, which I have been unable to do as of yet).
Oh, don't know if it's important -- but "memory-wise" -- the computer has 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (not that I know what any of that means).
I honestly don't have a clue what to do -- and the fact that I'm considering both an iBook and an iPhone purchase in the near future only confuses me that much more. Any help would be appreciated so I can get the most out of my computer.- Asked by Scot C from Brooklyn

What version does the Snow Leopard install disk install? What is the easiest way to install 10.6.8 on a new Macintosh? (I need Rosetta)
I may soon buy a new MacBook Pro, but they are shipping with Lion and I need Rosetta. I can buy a Snow Leopard install disk, but what version does it install? I heard it was 10.6.5. It will be a nuisance, taking extra time and several reboots, to update from 10.6.5 to 10.6.8, which I may have to do several times over the lifetime of the computer.
