My wife's MacBook is running Tiger 10.4.11. As I understand it, I need to first upgrade to Snow Leopard. Disc drive doesn't work. How 2 upgrade?

I can purchase Snow Leopard from Apple, but can I install the OS by using a second MacBook's DVD drive using a firewire?

Mac OS X 10.4.11 Upgrading?!

Hi all
My macbook works from a 2.16 GHz Inter Core 2 Duo processor, and I'd like to upgrade to a newer OS as lots of updates don't seem to work as the the system is really old!!
I've read I should buy the full disc set to upgrade to Snow Leopard but I can't seem to find that anywhere? Also, if I upgrade to Snow Leopard can I then upgrade straightaway to Lion via App store?

Upgrade from 10.4.11 to Snow Leopard

I plan on purchasing the Snow Leopard online to upgrade from mac os x 10.4.11, what else do I need to make this work properly? Do I need to back up my files? Also, I am doing this in order to have boot camp assistant, will the online upgrade do even if I am planning on installing another OS in my laptop?

I have a Macbook Pro -OSX 10.4.11 2.33 Ghz 2 Intel 2 Duo Tiger. if I upgrade to Snow Leopard will Adobe CS2 still work?

Most interested in using Illustrator - most important and Photoshop second.

Can I buy the 10.6 Family pack and use it to upgrade one macbook running 10.5 and one macbook pro running 10.4?

I have a old fairly broken down Macbook Pro that was a seriously early revision, like 13 weeks out of the factory. It is running the latest version of Tiger (10.4.11? I can't remember). I also have a newer Macbook running 10.5.8.

My plan is to use the old MBP with a external harddrive hooked up to a tv to play my movies. I'm fairly stubborn and want to do this using dvdpedia and frontrow but the plugin will not work under 10.4, only 10.5 or 10.6.

So I was wondering if I could purchase the Snow Leopard family pack and upgrade BOTH my computers? I know in the description it says to upgrade from Tiger I need the box set edition but I do not need any of the iApps, in fact I would delete them straight away so no way am I paying $NZ349 for it. This is probably more than the computer is worth seeing as the airport card, battery and dvd drive do not work.

Sorry if this is overly complicated but I am a student and I don't want to commit my money if there is no hope of achieving what I want! If anyone has some answers or clarification for me that would be amazing :)

I am running 10.4.11 and need to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard, do I need to upgrade to 10.5 first and then on to 10.5?

Will up-grade to 10.6x from 10.4.11 erase the WindowsXP? The Win XP is inoperative. Just make it go away.

The Windows XP that came with Mac pro Intel based 10.4.11 has died. The mouse and everything in it is untouchable on the Windows side only. The Tiger side runs perfectly. I would just like to remove the XP and run a pure Snow Leopard OS machine. Will the simple upgrade to 10.6 do it or do I need to resort to more drastic measures?

I have a Mac Mini on 10.4.11 & I need to upgrade to Snow Leopard

It says on Snow Leopard spec that I need 1 gig of Ram and 3 gig of memory.
I have one of the early base models, 1.5GHz, Intel Core Solo, 512MB 667 MHz, will it still be able to handle SL?

Will my Final Cut Studio 1, CS4, and Office07 work with Snow Leopard?

I have an 2.33 intel MacBook Pro 17" / 2g ram, with tiger 10.4.11 and want to upgrade to snow leopard, or even just leopard, but need to keep my existing software for now, including: Final Cut Studio 1, Office 07, and CS4. I also have Aperture 1. Does snow leopard support these older versions..????
