Can I buy the 10.6 Family pack and use it to upgrade one macbook running 10.5 and one macbook pro running 10.4?
I have a old fairly broken down Macbook Pro that was a seriously early revision, like 13 weeks out of the factory. It is running the latest version of Tiger (10.4.11? I can't remember). I also have a newer Macbook running 10.5.8.
My plan is to use the old MBP with a external harddrive hooked up to a tv to play my movies. I'm fairly stubborn and want to do this using dvdpedia and frontrow but the plugin will not work under 10.4, only 10.5 or 10.6.
So I was wondering if I could purchase the Snow Leopard family pack and upgrade BOTH my computers? I know in the description it says to upgrade from Tiger I need the box set edition but I do not need any of the iApps, in fact I would delete them straight away so no way am I paying $NZ349 for it. This is probably more than the computer is worth seeing as the airport card, battery and dvd drive do not work.
Sorry if this is overly complicated but I am a student and I don't want to commit my money if there is no hope of achieving what I want! If anyone has some answers or clarification for me that would be amazing :)- Asked by Frances R from Dunedin

Would upgrading my OS help my computer as a game machine?
There are quite a few games that I want to purchase for my MacBook Pro, but I've run into some troubling issues.
Just about every single game I've demoed on my computer can't run well. My Macbook Pro is an Intel Core 2 Duo running at 2.2 Ghz with 2GB of RAM on top of a GeForce 8600 GPU (OS is at 10.4.11), which, in layman's terms, means I have a computer that greatly exceeds the recommended requirements of just about every game that I want. However, no matter what, I can't get the games to run well. Even if I tone down the graphics to the absolute minimum, they run horribly.
So I figured that maybe my OS needs upgrading, but I should probably double check since spending more than $100 for a fix that might not work is pretty demanding. Will upgrading my OS help? Or is it a different problem altogether? I get Mac game demos from MacGameFiles.com, so maybe the demos are just buggy?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.- Asked by Ian K

i have macbook pro from late 2007 running 10.6.8. can i upgrade to lion?
with the mobile me program ending, i will no longer have the ability of my iphone (version 4s) to synch with my computer wirelessly. in order to have icloud on my computer i need to upgrade to lion but i am concerned that my mac book pro is too old. it was purchased in late 2007 and is running 10.6.8. i am concerned that if i upgrade to lion, the computer won't accomodate the new operating system and might corrupt my photos and other stored information. would i be taking a risk with the lion? if it is ok to upgrade, what woulf the limitations be given the age of the computer.?

Can I use my MacBook Pro system disc (Snow leopard) that came with my computer to upgrade my Macbook 13 inch (early 2008) to OSX 10.6 ?
I have Macbook 13 inch (early 2008) running 10.5.8 and want to upgrade the operating system to the 10.6 version that came with my MacBook Pro. I purchased the OSX Lion USB so that I could install the new OS on my MacBook Pro and my Macbook. I have been successful with my Macbook Pro but when I try and use the Snow Leopard install disc that came with my MacBook Pro it tells me I can't use the disc on the MacBook.

Is the Snow Leopard installation disc 10.6.3 or 10.6.8?
I recently bought a Mac OS X Snow Leopard installation disc and they say that it runs 10.6.3. My computer runs Mac OS X 10.6.8. If I used this disc on the computer, will it affect the operating systems negatively at all? Or will it work with no problems?

I'm confused. Have a Mac OS X 10.5.8. want to upgrade to 10.6 BUT it says I have to running Leopard. I don't see that anywhere on my MAC
I am not very computer software savvy - so how do I know if I even have the basic Leopard or Lion or whatever animal it is that you need to even begin to upgrade to 10/6 or better?

My husband's G4 & my MacBook run on Tiger. I'd like to upgrade to Snow Leopard. Will I lose compatibility with my husband's computer on our network?
My husband's G4 cannot run Snow Leopard, so we both have OS 10.4.11. My MacBook can run Snow Leopard. We do share a lot of documents wirelessly.
I'd like to try some applications that do not run on Tiger, but don't want to leave my husband in the dust as I take off for the future!- Asked by Karen P from Greenfield

Will i run into any problems if I upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard if I don't buy the box set?
So basically i want to know if i buy the single user snow leopard for 29.99 rather than the box set for 169.99 will it cause any problems to my laptop? My macbook pro is intel-based so it shouldn't have any problems.

I have a lot of Adobe CS4 and can't afford to have the reported headaches of Snow Leopard with it. My macBook is running 10.5 and CS4 nicely.
