When installing a new battery, is there anything you have to do after plugging the MBP into the charger and turning it on?

(The new battery also says "not charging" after I replaced it.)

i have MacBook1,1  Battery ASMB013 Voltage.  it should be replaced soon can you suggest me what i need to purchased including

power life.
SO, I would like to buy stronger battery, which can resist at least 4-5hrs.
