Can I use square while my Ipad has a case on?

I don't want to have to bother with taking the case on and off when I'm using square. Will it work while it has a case on? Or does it work with certain types of cases? If so, which ones? and which one's won't it work with... LIke the trident case? That's the one i want to get, but not if i have to fool with it everytime i use square/

The square reader will not fit down in the jack with an otterbox case. What kind of adaptor can I use to plug in that will work?

I have an iPad with an otter box case. The square reader is too short to fit down in the jack opening. What kind of adaptor can I buy that will transfer data to allow square to work?
