Can I use this to mirror the drive on my time capsule. Ie using the USB port on both and does time capsule have utility for this?
I want to go all solid state on machine and then use three or for time capsules linked to these. Or is there a better technique for this. Maybe wireless router with connected mirror raids. I would prefer not to create server. I want to be able to grab drive and power cord and take it whenever I want. I don't want any wires on my computers. Obviously I will need a few but this would be ideal in 2 terabyte models if this possible

If I daisy chain two of these will time machine see it as one drive?
I am just about to buy a mac pro.I will fill it with 4 X 2TB drives - total capacity 8TB. I need an efficient system to provide time machine backup to the whole of what I have on the internal drives not just piece meal backup of part of it.
I'm currently looking at a Qnap system which when filled with compatible hard drives will cost about the same as two of these.- Asked by Colin N

I need it for video editing, but i need it as a single big HD not two...does it duplicate the data and as a consequence half the storage it provides?
Hi there,
Im in need of a huge storage HD to do some hd video editing on apple prores...This hardrive looks like the best option but I need to be sure of something...although they are two hardrives, can they be used as one? Im not looking for duplicating data at all...I need that 2TB storage because apple proress by itself already takes a lot of space up, so the footage itself takes up to 1TB...So if this HD duplicates it thats it...I have no space left! So i want to make sure I can use it as one single HD...Then again, perhaps i should be looking to get the g-Drive instead? its only one hd based but im not sure if its as good for editing...any help truly appreciated :) thanks- Asked by Ana F

Does this RAID system have 2 - 2TB drives in it or does it have 2 - 4TB drives / What is the real storage capability?
I understand RAIDs stripe data & even 4 - 4TB drives only gives you 4TB of storage, not 16TBs.

Can this be connected to my MACbook via a wireless router?
I would rather not have this connected directly to my MacBook. I have a wireless router by lynksys. I am looking to use this to house my many music, photos and videos and have my MacBook look their for those files rather then the local drive. Can this be done and how do you suggest I connect it?

Backup 3 x 1TB hard drives...
I have a MacPro with 3 separate internal 1TB hard drives. I need to setup a backup system so that all three drives are backed up. Do I do this by using a 1 x 3 TB drive, or by using a 3 x 1TB RAID?
In an ideal world it would be nice to have it all plugged in so that it just backs itself up automatically in the background, rather than me having to keep stopping and drag folders across to various drives etc.
Many thanks,
Nick- Asked by Nicholas G from Camberley
