Can multiple users access the Western Digital My Book wirelessly?

I'd like to use one as a server to save and share files. I know you can plug directly in but how could multiple users access the same drive?

I Have a WD ecternal drive (1 TB). Able to view and use files, however can not copy to the drive only copy from to drive to my mac book pro. please ad

Can I hook this up to my Airport extreme and use time machine through the network on this drive?

I don't want to hook the drive up to my computer physically, but have it on my airport. I would like a network drive with an ether connection preferably. I guess this could work.

Do I need to leave this connected to my comptuer all the time. I want this just for back up and want to just connect when I add songs or photos

I know Time Machine auto backs up if I leave something connected to my computer but I never have. Don't want to spend the money on the Apple wifi product but don't want to have something connected to my computer all the time. I do want to be able to have a back up if something happens to my computer - the only real changes I make are adding photos and songs to my iTunes library. Having once had to recreate an iTunes library I don't want to do that again. Can I get this, back up my Mac and then disconnect it and simply reconnect it and back it up again say once a week or month or how ever often I want?
