can I use the Apogee JAM Guitar Input to turn my ipad, iphone into a mini portable amp?

I'm not interested in recording etc at this point, just looking for a portable alternative amp for practice etc on the electric bass guitar

I would love to play my electric guitar on my IPod 4-what programs/apps can I use? And can I transfer whats recored on IPod 4 to my Mac/ Garage Band?

does this work well with an acoustic guitar ?

i noticed in the specs that it said designed for electric guitar and i wanted to make sure before i bought that it actually works well with an acoustic.

What makes this interface better than the Line 6 mobile in, iRig, or Guitar Jack?

I bought the new iPad primarily for recording music specifically guitar. What makes this interface better than the Line 6 mobile in, iRig, Guitar Jack Model 2, or the other guitar inputs being sold now? The new iPad will be my first apple device other than the iPhone4s. If anyone has any experience with any of the interfaces I mentioned please explain how they perform on the iPad and the GarageBand app. I am very excited for the Jam session feature on Garageband and want the best IF I can buy.

Could I plug the one side of this product into a soundboard and plug the other side into my mac? That way I could get all of the sound I record.

I Don't wish to plug it into my guitar but I have been looking for an easy way to record my school's band.

Is there a quality or latency difference between the Jam and the Duet or Duet 2.

I plan on recording guitar with this, but want to get the best quality sound and the least latency. I am using this only with a mac book air, not an ipad or iphone, but want to know if spending the extra money is worth it.
