Can I use a Yamaha Motif ES with the Apogee Jam to record on the IPad in Garage Band?

I want to record using the sounds of my Motif but using the Garage Band on my Ipad. Is this possibe with the Jam?

How do you power the iPad if you are using the Apogee JAM?

What is the work-around, since both the power connector and Apogee JAM require the iPad Dock Port?
