With the guest network capability of the airport extreme base station, is it possible to limit or otherwise throttle the bandwidth used by it?

  • The transmit power and multicast rate settings affect the entire base station, not each separate network.

However, you can set the specific channel being used by the guest network, and you can limit the guest net to being a "b" only or "g" only or "n" only (2.4GHz) or a "b/g" network - all that gives you a fair bit of latitude.

Especially if you have physical control over the base station and where you locate it. Along with denial of ethernet access, as the administrator you do get to strangle it's pipe a bit with a more remote location of the base:))
