Will this Apple LED Cinema Display function as a display if placed as the terminal device along a Thunderbolt daisy chain?

i.e. if I currently own a 24" or 27" LED Cinema Display connected via MDP, and this fall obtain an Apple Thunderbolt Display and connect it to a Thunderbolt-compatible Mac, can the older model still be used? Or do both external monitors have to be the Thunderbolt model?

An LED Cinema Display will not function when attached to a Thunderbolt display. Refer to Apple support document titled "Apple Thunderbolt Display (27-inch): Connection options for Thunderbolt Macs" for this passage:

"Mini DisplayPort displays will not light up if connected to the Thunderbolt port of an Apple Thunderbolt Display (27-inch). Displays connected via Mini DisplayPort video adapter to the Thunderbolt port of an Apple Thunderbolt Display (27-inch) will not work."

Search for HT4885 in the apple.com search field to get to this document, which discusses other connection issues surrounding the Thunderbolt Displays.
