Will an Airport Extreme work with a 2-wire wireless modem?

My 2-wire modem was issued when I signed-up with AT&T and I would really like to by the Airport Extreme Base Station and a couple Airport Expresses to extend the wireless coverage within my house (also for airtunes). Is this possible if I have a 2-wire modem? I hear they have some issues working together. Any tips/answers would be appreciated, thanks!

  • No, while the AirPort Extreme will extend a 2Wire signal, the AirPort Express will not extend it. The wireless function of the 2Wire can be switched off using the web-based management tool, then use Ethernet cable to connect the AirPort Extreme to it. The Expresses will then be able to extend the wireless signal of the Extreme.

If all you needed is for the Extreme and Expresses to "join" your 2Wire's wireless network, they can do that.
