What's it like importing video on the Mac with this camera? Can I copy video files directly from the camera or do I have to do it through iMovie?
I 'm trying to decide between this camera and a Sony HDR-XR260V Camcorder. Importing video from the Sony camera to the Mac OS is a bit clunky. I can't easily access the video hard drive directly. The Sony also has a clunky file folder structure. I am hoping the importing/archiving experience is much easier on a MAC with this camera. If so...I'm buying it right now!

I have been using iMovie with my HF M50. Its been fairly straight-forward to do so.
I tried Sony HDR-210V but the image quality at low light sucked. You will really the low light Image Quality of MF50.

I just wanted to comment about the canon Vixia camcorder and importing vids to a mac. I just bought the Vixia M500, same camera as the M50 minus internal memory. uploading video to the macbook is simple. all I do is remove the SD card from the camera, put into the SD slot, all my video imports and all video is at AVCHD quality (highest HD quality). and then I use i-movie for all my editing. Easy as 1-2-3. Hope you enjoy your camera and macbook too!
