What is the performance difference between the 1 TB 7200 rpm and the 2 TB 5400 rpm? Since they are both Thunderbolt

A lot of incorrect answers here so I'll try answer it clearly. The 1Tb 7200 drive WILL be quicker but around 20% is correct. The Thunderbolt port is NOT the weak link however. Thunderbolt WAY outperforms these drives and indeed if you want to make the most of the Thunderbolt interface then you would be better getting something such as the Promise Pegasus R4 (or higher) which will comfortably thrash these drives by at least double the speed (in a safe RAID 5 I might add). If you want portability however these are the only option for high storage capacity.
One final thing to point out, don't wait for a nice single drive in Thunderbolt, it's pointless because a single drive will be fine on Firewire 800.

The 1 TB will be a bit faster as you are not reading/writing to 2 drives. Although it should be imperceptible to you or me the difference would become very obvious in some profession environments.
