QA Apple Time Capsule
Product No Longer Available
Is there any data compression taking place? I basically want to know, is the ratio of data to backed up data 1:1? If I have close to 1TB of data to back up, will TC use the same amount of space or will it be less so I can add more data in the future?

If you would use Time Machine with your Time Capsule, that would do incremental backups that continue until all the disk space is fully used, after which Time Machine would drop-off the oldest in favor of the new.
If you use the Time Capsule for non-Time Machine backups, or just use it for data storage, it's just another external hard drive, although its drive can't actually be partitioned without being removed.
