    You can charge an iPad 2 with or without the dock

  • Yes this acts as a recharging dock and can be used for this purpose if you buy a dock, they are sold separately. Otherwise use the cable provided to charge from a mains power socket.

  • No, the dock itself is not actually a charger. You still need to have your normal Apple charging cable, either plugged into a wall charger or a USB port. It acts purely as a passthrough. You'd get the same effect by carving a block of wood into the same shape (though it wouldn't be as snug a fit)!

  • You can charge the iPad directly from the bottom of the iPad where the dock connector is, you DO NOT need the iPad 2 dock to charge the iPad.

  • Yes, but it's not the only way to recharge. You can charge the iPad2 using the charger and usb cable (included) with your purchase or you can charge it from a powered USB port (eg. On a iMac or MacBook/Pro.
