Is there any point to getting this if I've already been using my Macbook Pro for a year?

I've already been using my trackpad for more than a year. It's kinda dirty, but still works well. Does the product describe any way to clean it, or would I just be trapping grease and dirt in between the film and my trackpad?

    A Microfiber towel will clean your trackpad safely and perfectly and remove fingerprints. And then you would apply the film which will then protect it from fingerprints and dirt.
