Western Digital My Book for Mac
Product No Longer Available
Is there a version that has a Firewire interface, I was told in an Apple shop that this was better than USB
I have a 1TB Western Digital hard drive connected to my MacBook via Firewire. I want to buy another drive for my son and his MacBook, but the drive in the store only has a USB port.

Using WD 1TB External with USB only may be a better solution because MACs supply power at all times thru Firewire ports, including when the system is shut down. This results in not turning off the WD 1TB External when shutting down the MAC, at least that is what happened with my WD My Book 320 GB which has both USB and Firewire. Now I am running it only on USB. I am using my 320 GB flawlessly with Time Machine.
