Is the LaCie 4TB 2big really 2TB+2TB drives? In otherwords if I config for RAID 1, would I be getting 2TB of storage?

    Yes, this is 2TB+2TB.

    Drive comes preformatted with Apple Disk Utility as RAID-0, 4TB.

    Use Disk Utility to reconfigure as 2TB RAID-1, or 2 independent 2TB drives.

    When drives are independent, one can also partition each drive separately into additional volumes.
