is it safe to put the withings software on a new mac that has os 10.8

I bought the withings scale and then purchased a new mac. I am new to the mac world but so far I love it. I tried to sync my new scale to my wi-fi and new mac but I get a warning saying I will have to change my security settings on the mac. Is this going to be safe?
