Is it possible to remote access my external hardrive, connected to my airport extreme, over the internet from a windows pc?

I use an iMac at home, connected via ethernet to an Airport Extreme. I also have two pc's at home with Windows Vista OS's; all of which are successfully networked with an external hard drive connected via usb to the Airport Extreme. I want to also access the external harddrive from a windows pc that I use at work. Is it possible?

  • if you set up the hard disk, within airport utility, to be shared over the WAN port.. and then you simply attempted to connect to your IP address when mounting a network drive on windows... would this not work?

  • The only way that I have found to do this is via a mobile me account, but that my be mac only. I'm not 100% sure on if it must be mac or not because I don't have an account. I think otherwise you'd have to remote desktop into a computer on the network if you wanted to access hard drive data.
