If your drive was formatted for FAT-32 your Mac should be able to both read and write to it. This said, it's more likely that your Windows box formatted your drive for NTFS since FAT-32 has many technical limitations (security, recovery, partition size and file size to name a few). Mac OS X can read from most, but cannot write to any, NTFS external drives. There are third party apps that claim to enable OS X to write to NT formatted drives, and of course you could always run Windows on your Mac using Parallels or BootCamp.
