Is a firewire the best way to transfer files/data from old mac to new mac?

    Yes, it is by FAR the fastest way to transfer the files. I suppose if you only have a few files and some email it wouldn't matter much, but if you have music, photos, and video, use firewire. Note that if your older Mac has Firewire 400 and your new Mac only has firewire 800, you will need an adapter.
