Installing the Logic 9 update on a new mac that currently doesn't have Logic installed

I've order a new 27 inch iMac Quad and need to know if I purchase the Logic 9 update can I install it using my Logic 7 dongle. This machine will not have any previous version of Logic on it so can I do this>

    I would think that Apple would assume you are trying it on. Safest way would be to do a basic install of 7 on your machine - in any case, I believe the upgrade from 7 to current involves you sending back your dongle. If you can swing for it, I would keep the dongle and pay the extra and get the full version, cos you can be sure that at some point you will need your old app to open that one important song that you thought you would never need again, but just doesn't work in LP9. Call me old fashioned... Also, if you have v7 discs and a dongle, you could feasibly sell it on....
