If the hard drive fails, will I still be able to use TC as a router?

I was gonna buy an extreme base station, but I found a 500GB time capsule on sale for the same price...so naturally I would rather buy the TC. I know since its the first generation TC, I'm probably only gonna get about 8-14 months use out of it. I'm ok with that so long as I can still use it as a base station.....wifi, wireless printing, etc....

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't, I just wanna make sure before I purchase it. Thanks

    Yes, that will work.

The first generation TC did not incorporate MIMO technology into its wireless function. (multiple-input multiple-output transmits multiple data streams simultaneously)

  • It is the power supply that will fail first (insuffficient cooling), and then it is good only for the bin

  • I guess if the HD failed you would probably get a bit more use out of it as a router but the HD could be an important part of the router functionality.
