If I'm using my macbook to watch movies on my plasma tv, using a DVI to HDMI for video, will this cable plug right into macbook?
Will the toslink audio cable plug directly into my macbook and TV or do I need to buy an adapter for either or both? What is the best way to hook a macbook to a plasma tv, basically to watch movies online on a bigger screen.

The answer depends on the model of your MacBook and the TV.
This will work for most recent MacBooks that have the 3.5mm mini optical port. It puts the optical fiber at the tip of the normal headphone jack (3.5 mm mini) and allow the same port to be used for both digital optical and analog headphones. This cable ships with a TOSLink to 3.5 mm adapter according to the description. So it should work with your MacBook.
The other end depends ont he TV. Provicing the TV's make and model number would get you a better answer.
