If I replace my netgear router with the Airport Extreme, will i have to completely reconfigure my home network (mixed environment)?

No, the AirPort Utility software which you will install and update on a computer which meets the AirPort System Requirements for setup and administration will detect your current network's settings, ask you to verify the prior router you want replaced, and ask if you want to transfer those settings to the new network. However, at a minimum, I believe there is no choice but for you to enter your passwords during setup.
In addition, you will have the ability to then setup a second network. This will undoubtedly be more choices and selections than you currently have had to make, but if all you need is one network you could just stop at that point.
