If I mirrored the screens with my macbook, will I still get the 2560 x 1440 resolution on the cinema display?

I have a Macbook (newest model).

If I mirrored the screens will I get the full 2560 x 1440 resolution on the cinema display? Or will it mirror the resolution of my Macbook screen? (1280 x 800)

Will I have to have both screens on my desk (arranged side by side) to take advantage of the amazing high resolution?

Mirrored Display mode will adjust to the highest resolution the smallest screen connected can achieve. In your case, your MacBook Screen will default to 1280x800, and the Cinema Display will also show 1280x800.

To take advantage of the display, you could run your MacBook in Clamshell Mode (Google this), and using a keyboard and mouse, turn the MacBook into a desktop.

You could also connect the display, make the Cinema Display the Primary monitor, and extend the desktop onto the MacBook's screen.
