I want a wired ethernet connection & not wireless. Does this router default to wireless or can I connect an ethernet cable & go wired as my default?

The router will always be transmitting the wi-fi signal, but you can default any computer to wired Ethernet by disabling the wireless card of any laptop or desktop that has one built in. It will then search for the Ethernet port as a mean to connect to the Internet.

It doesn't default to anything, though it will leave the wireless radio on. You can turn it off if you want. If left on, both wireless and Ethernet work, and you don't have to do anything to make them work.
