I have Verizon as my internet provider, with their modem. Will the Airport Extreme replace this? Or do I still need an internet provider?

You still need to have an internet provider and your internet modem. You plug an ethernet cable from the modem into the Airport Extreme and now you have a wireless network.

  • An AirPort base station is a router which parcels out an incoming signal to your other devices, not a substitute for an isp's gateway device (aka modem) which must provide that incoming signal.
