I have an SSD drive -- does this device come with the case to encapsulate it, along with sled for thunderbolt?

I would like to use my SSD drive as my external drive connected to my mac via thunderbolt.

Does this product contain all the parts (except the thunderbolt cable) which I would need to achieve what I am looking for?

  • I own one of these adapters. No, it does not come with ANY case, what you see pictured is what you get, just the adapter itself. I was able to buy a Segate external USB 3 drive at Costco and detach it from the USB 3 base and snap that hard drive onto this base and it all just works, but Segate already has that detachable hard drive enclosed. The connector to the detachable drive is a standard eSATA connector, so an SSD should work if you could encapsulate one in your own "case".
