Moshi 800 to 400 FireWire Adapter

I have a Firewire 400 Mac mini, can I use this adaptor to connect a new firewire 800 HD? Will Time Machine work OK to the new disk?

    nope- this only works from firewire 800 ports to 400. So you have to have Firewire 800 on your computer to use this adapter.
