I bought the otterbox for the 4g.. Would I have to take off the case for it to fit?

    Yes, you have to remove the case. the Otterbox triples the thickness of the iPhone 4.

    Try using it without the adapter.

  • You will have to remove your Otterbox (and generally all other bumpers or cases as well). However, the iPhone 4 does NOT properly fit onto the pins/connector with the Otterbox on the iPhone 4, even with no universal inserts (adapters); this is confirmed on docking stations utilizing the universal dock and adapters. To prevent damage to the pins, the docking unit, or the iPhone, I recommend using the adapter, although your iPhone will have to remain without a case during these uses.
