I am hoping this will take the place of my old ethernet cable I am using now. I need an ethernet cable to go from the MBP to the wall internet plug.

If this is a ethernet cable that will connect my MacBook Pro to the wall ethernet outlet so I can get on the internet. What does "Patch Cable" mean? Also, what does: "Designed for 10, 100 or 1000 Base-T networks" mean? Is this something I need to be concerned about if all I want is an ethernet cable to plug into my MacBook Pro and the other end into the wall internet plug. Can somebody explain to me what the sentence above means? The one beginning with; "Designed for 10…"
Thanks
