How much swing does the Nest have? Adjustable?
I have a programmable that I have set to my liking (gas fired forced air heat, central AC). The one thing I like is that it has no swing-I set it at, say 75, and it holds that temp (or whatever else the program instructs)
Some 'stats have a swing (which can or can't be adjusted) that will allow a specified delta between actual and set point before the HVAC kicks in. I don't want this. My house going from 75 to 73 before the heat kicks in is quite noticeable to me. I am very sensitive to temp fluctuations.
Also, the person I live with is a paramedic who works every third day, and is home the other two. Is Nest's data history/resolution enough to figure out this "away every third day" logic? (I am home every evening.)

It has a 2 degree swing that it not adjustable. The third day thing can be taken care of with auto away.

In my experience, once I set the Nest, the temperature in my home is consistent. I have not noticed a fluctuation in temperature and I am also sensitive to fluctuations in temperature.
Additionally, you can allow Nest to auto-program or you may manually program the schedule. The Nest will learn your habits and go into Auto-Away mode when it senses no one is home. This would be ideal in your situation where your schedule is not consistent.- Answered by Michelle A from Salem
