How do you know what generation your Ipod nano is??

I am wanting a FM Transmitter, but not sure if my Ipod nano will work.. Please help. I am new to this.

    If its about the size of an iPod Shuffle its the 6th generation, if its narrow and long with a camera on the back its the 5th generation, if it doesnt have a camera on the back and it fits the description of the 5th generation, its the 4th generation. Also if you plug it into itunes it will tell you in the sync menu
