How do I mirror my Mac Book Pro through the new Apple TV to display on my HD television?

I recently purchased the new Apple TV and using my Linksys router, I am able to mirror my iPhone and iPad on my HD television. However, I have not been able to mirror my Mac Book which is also part on my Linksys network. Will an Airport Extreme Base Station solve this issue?

  • You will be able to do just that when OSX Mountian Lion is released.

No, an extreme base station will NOT solve this issue. You cannot mirror OSX to Apple TV 2 UNLESS you purchase a software application called 'AirParrot' google it to find out more.

  • I have a new Macbook Pro purchased in Dec 2012 with OS 10.8.3 and the previous version of Apple TV and I am able to mirror my laptop screen to my 42" HD tv screen. The Apple Tv I have only supports 720 dpi but it looks great.
