Does this work through wifi only or cell service when traveling? Thinking about gift for hubby and he has ipad3.

    It doesn't need any service at all, it will work fine in airplane mode after the app has been installed.

  • The iRig is a passive adapter for the headset input. It will work in all situations that the headset mic works in.
