Does this RAID system have 2 - 2TB drives in it or does it have 2 - 4TB drives / What is the real storage capability?

I understand RAIDs stripe data & even 4 - 4TB drives only gives you 4TB of storage, not 16TBs.

RAID 0 is striped, which is to say, half is written to each drive, so you don't lose capacity, except whatever you normally lose for system overhead.

RAID 1 however is mirrored, so each drive has all data, thus giving half the total for usable space.

  • Total capacity is 4TB. If you use RAID, your effect storage will be less.
