does the laptop sleeve in this bag fit the older version of macbook pro 15 (silver keys)?

If it's only a matter of your macbook pro being a bit thicker than the newer version, I would say that this case would still fit your laptop comfortably. The section for the laptop is about a good inch, 1-1/4" in thickness, and is expandable. Should be just fine.
