Does it charge the iPad?

I am expecting the arrival of my ipad 2 later this week, will let you know how it goes. The main problem I see is 'proping' the ipad 2 up on the speaker if it does indeed charge it. The support backrests that come with the speaker are WAY too small and do not extend nearly high enough up the back of the pad, but perhaps with some DIY a solution can be found. Will let u know how i get on.
