Do I still need to have wireless access from an outside source such as Time-Warner with this product?
I don't understand if this will replace wireless access or if it is an addition to wireless. Basically, I'm not sure if I need this product when I buy a Macbook Air. Right now I am only on cable but I want to update to wireless and I'm not sure if I need this product when I buy a Macbook Air.

Yes, you will still need an internet connection from an outside source. This product will allow you to wirelessly broadcast your internet connection, which is provided by an internet service provider (like Time-Warner). It is not a replacement for your internet service, just a means of wirelessly broadcasting it.
Because a MacBook Air does not have an ethernet port, it will require a wireless connection of some sort. However, an Apple-branded wireless device is not required. Many other manufacturers make wireless routers and most internet service providers will provide one (for a fee) with your service. If you already have a wireless internet connection, your new MacBook Air should be able to connect to it just fine.
