Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
Product No Longer Available
Can I use this on the iPhone 3G and skip music forward as well as backward?
The headphone that comes with the iPhone 3G can only skip music forward by pressing the mic twice in succession. Even then this capability disappears after a couple of months'usage. I want to know if I can skip forward to the next song and also to skip backward to replay the song that just ended?

It will work. And you CAN skip back a song with the earphones that come with the 3G. To do so, click the remote THREE times. It took me five months to accidentally discover this...

Pressing the center button three times quickly will rewind to the beginning of the song or to the previous song.

The remote will only work with iPhone 3GS and 4 on iPhone models. It won't work with 3G or 2G ones.

Yes, everything will work with the remote except the volume control.

Something is definitely wrong with the pair you have been using. The headphones that came with my 3G skip forward and back, and they have lasted me over a year of everyday use. Indeed these can also skip forward and back on the 3G, the only function that doesn't work is the volume control.
