Can I use this cable with my iPhone 5 to connect my tv

    No.
    You would need the Lightning Digital AV Adapter that can be bought from Apple for $49 if your tv supports HDMI and you have an HDMI cable.
    If your tv doesn't support HDMI, you would want the Lightning VGA Adapter that also costs $49.
    If you are willing to spend $100, you can buy Apple TV from Apple which has much more options than just mirroring a display to a tv. My Apple TV is awesome and I have never had any problems with it. It's all wireless to btw. You need to have a Wi-Fi connection, an HDMI cable and supported tv in order to use it.
