can i use starter bulbs with another bridge?

I can't get any additional bulbs. There's a 4 month wait (REALLY?)
It's not THAT much more expensive to buy another starter pack and then just toss the bridge out. Just use the 3 bulbs. Will that work?

The "NO" answers are TOTALLY incorrect. The bulbs are always "paired" with the wifi base station they come with but they are based on the Zigbee protocol which means that they can be "unpaired" and "paired" to the new wifi base station quite easily! Do NOT believe the NO's listed here.

  • Yes, it is possible, but not simple or convenient.

This can be done using the Philips SmartLink remote control that comes with certain models of the Philips LivingColors mood lights.

Also, there are other unofficial methods that can reset bulbs between bridges, but these are not officially supported by Philips.

  • No, you cannot add the lamps from another starter pack to your system. You will need to buy the additional hue lamps.
